UPDATED - You Want to Help Promote caucus99percent? (And an Offer You Simply Can't Refuse)

Following CA Democrat's lead, I made a bunch of images highlighting what I find best about caucus99percent.

If you are active on Facebook, Twitter, or other forms of social media (I'm not), feel free to use any or all of these images. And help get us new members, eyeballs, publicity, and importantly, new users who can contribute towards the financial health of this blog. There is a great deal of positive energy present today on this blog and I again want to thank JtC and joe shikspack along with many others who contribute daily to make this an interesting place to visit and creating a safe haven for many of us.

Without their efforts - and collectively as a group - we wouldn't amount to much. And that is the truth.

Here we go...

Update #1 - Tuesday, August 16, 12:40 pm

In response to this comment below by orlbucfan, I am adding two "Bernie Birdie" images.

If you'd like for me to make you a special image, let me know what words you want to include and dominant colors. Tagxedo has some limitations, but I'll try to do the best I can. I might not get to designing all images and fulfill all requests tonight, but when I do, I will post them in this essay.

JnH. I loved them over on TOP. I've missed them. So happy to see these.

This is the absolute least I can do for JtC, joe, gulfgal, and others who were among the group that started this blog. And struggled to maintain it as a fairly large number of newcomers showed up in the past few months.

I hope a few people use these images on social media.

I value this place, too, and the people I'm priviledged to interact with. I'm so grateful they created it. Smile

You have copyrighted those images which, by default, means all rights. I don't see any additional copyright info in the exif information.

As a web designer, I wouldn't use one of these images on a web site without clear authorization... preferably something less transitory than a post on a discussion board.

For this purpose and these images, does the copyright add that much value to you?

Tagxedo allows use of these images for all kinds of purposes on blogs. They just don't want people using it to sell posters, tshirts, etc., etc.

I hadn't realized that those images were generated by a 3rd party web site and so the copyright was theirs. It still looks pretty problematic from a licensing standpoint (c99 is not a non-profit). But it's also pretty much true that only a professional web designer would care about that.

fundraising for C99 doesn't seem like it fits any of those categories but I'm going to let this drop now.

But I had mistakenly thought the copyright belonged to the poster here and it does not so there's nothing to be done about it really. In most cases it won't matter. Probably only professionals would shy away from this usage.

and I don't want to dwell on it either, but I know that no one here wants to even possibly get the site into any trouble, so since the question was raised, I did just spend a few minutes reading the licensing details at Creative Commons for this type of license, and it says any "non-commercial" use is allowed, so as long as you're not selling something with the artwork on it, like a tee shirt or poster, it's fine. I can't imagine any reason why sharing it to promote awareness of c99p around the intertubes wouldn't be perfectly acceptable.

Professional photographers and artists who have copyrighted their images often search the internet on a regular basis to find unauthorized use of their pictures, illustrations, etc. and there can be legal and/or financial consequences for unauthorized use.

People who are risk averse look for images in public domain due to age or a Creative Commons license for "non-commercial" use such as these posts discuss. Another option is to subscribe to a graphics and photography service and use the photos with permission and attribution.

If you have a picture or graph you want everyone to see, it's much safer simply to provide the link to the site where it appeared originally.

and much appreciated.

My choice would be #4, for the following reasons —

- I like the expression of inclusiveness that the form of the whole of the US represents
- The colours are soft on the eye, compatible and appealing

Thank you JnH

I managed to open up a twitter account in 2014 under the unfortunate name mimi@mimiatdailykos and for my life of me I can't find a way to change that darn username.

I liked it to be mimi@caucus99percent, but as I just have the one real email address and even if I create another email address, twitter always finds me under that old name. I can change the "mimi" before the @ sign but not the last part mimiatdailykos. I am always good in messing things up.

So, now I will post all those caucus99percent images as mimi@mimiatdailykos, what an irony.

Jeez. Great images. I don't use facebook or any other social media. But I would use them on twitter.

I love this about this website!

No suppression of dissent

Any website that kicks people off it because they have different points of view then other people isn't a website I want to be a part of.
Markos wrote an update on what DK stands for today. The one I got a kick out of was this one.

This site is for electing more and better democrats

If that was true, then he and the people there would have voted for Bernie, not Hillary because he stands for what the democrats used to stand for before Clinton decided that the democrats had to start accepting money in order to win elections and formed the DNC.
He also stated this.

Any comments about Hillary that appears to be right wing talking points won't be allowed.

The people that were writing diaries or comments about what Hillary did when she was FLOTUS and helped Bill push welfare reform, the crime bill, NAFTA, and the bank deregulation weren't RWTPs, they were the truth.
Hillary being a warmonger isn't another RWTP, her history backs it up.
The Iraq war vote, the push for more troops during the surge in Afghanistan, pushing Obama on Libya, the coup in Honduras, and a lot more actions she did during her time as saying SOS.
Well, we will be able to tell them that we tried to warn them when she gets her no fly zone over Syria that will risk a war with Russia (besides the one Obama is trying to start) passes the TPP if Obama doesn't get it passed first, works with the republicans to privatize social security and the many other things she will work with them on that will help the rich, the banks and the corporations but not the middle class or the poor and disabled people.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

Voting is like driving with a toy steering wheel.

Is when you know you've reached the tipping point. Who exactly is arbiter for that standard? Do facts mitigate the RWTP claim, or is anything being reported from the right, regardless of facts, verboten?

It's official, folks, from the leader himself: Propaganda thy name is Daily Kos.

And I agree it's the end of the line. It's arbitrary and subjective, and for most hillaryites, any and all criticism of The Queen is labeled a RWTP. the day he posted that crap the first time was the day I decided to get the hell out of there. I have no interest whatsoever in such a controlled echo chamber or any place where blind worship of the Clintons is explicitly required.

is that it is not reality-based. What if the "right-wing talking point" is well cited and verifiable?

I don't mind people demanding that a statement be supported (and I do that regularly here when someone seems to be going down an ideological bent). But the notion that no amount of support matters if FOX happened to cover it is as partisan-kool-aid as it gets.

say "No forced conformity," "No suppression of dissent," "Vibrant debate," and the pootie!

Colors? I'm a blue-purple-red gal myself. If it's a forced choice, I think I like the blue-greens better than the red-oranges. I never have liked various shades of orange much.

You're a good guy for designing these images for us!

I think there's a way to add color schemes to the 50-60 already present in Tagxedo. I'll try to figure it out soon.
