For some reason the airstrike on PMF forces in Iraq the other day got very little media attention. The Iran-backed militias blamed the U.S., but the U.S. denied it.
Personally I think it was Israel, but there's no way to know for certain.

immediately after the attack, the head of Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada, Abu Alaa al-Walai, vowed to “retaliate against whoever is behind this heinous attack on the PMF site, whoever they may be.”

Well, the PMF just responded.

Several rockets have been fired from Iraq towards a US military base in northeastern Syria.

The attack, launched from the town of Zummar late on Sunday, was the first since early February to target US troops, when Iranian-backed groups in Iraq brought to an end a campaign that had seen regular strikes against the US-led international coalition.

No U.S. troops were hurt. Meanwhile, U.S. forces in Iraq were also attacked.

The U.S. thwarted a drone attack on American forces at Al Asad air base in western Iraq on April 22, marking the first time that American troops have been targeted since February, U.S. officials said.

“We can confirm it was an attack on Al Asad,” a defense official told Air & Space Forces Magazine. “There were no injuries or damage to infrastructure.”

Chances are the U.S. will soon attack those Iraqis again, and we'll return to the tit-for-tat strikes.
Iraq has been trying to get U.S. troops to withdraw for years, but the Pro-War Uniparty has fought it every inch of the way. Back in 2020 the Iraq Parliament voted for the U.S. to leave, but the Trump Administration flat out refused to even discuss it.
The good news is that the Biden Administration has finally agreed to talks about our eventual withdrawal from Iraq “as long as nothing disturbs the peace of the talks,”.
