Freddie King

Album of the Week 3-23-24

Afternoon folks!

This week there are albums from all three Kings of the Blues, including one kinda goofy, kinda interesting album of one King doing the songs of "The King." After that we've got some soul from Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, some blues rock from Johnny Winter and some rockabilly from Wanda Jackson. In the diversity department we've got an album from Geoff Muldaur that I picked up at a used record store many years ago having heard one track on the radio and thinking the whole album might be a bit like that. Oops. Bonus points if anybody can figure out which cut that was.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the tunes!

Album of the Week - 10-1-22

Afternoon folks!

Well, here's another bunch of albums for you guys. There's blues albums by Freddie King (a compilation of early recordings) and John Lee Hooker. There's some zydeco with Clifton Chenier, some classic New Orleans r&b with Huey "Piano" Smith and the Clowns and some blues rock with Dave Edmunds. There's even a couple of bluegrass albums from Country Gazette. What's not to like?

Happy listening and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week 8-20-22

Afternoon folks!

This week there's some great blues, albums by Freddie King, Little Richard and a compilation of blues singles from Stax. There's also a few cuts from a Screamin' Jay Hawkins album that weren't axed by the gods of copyright. In the blues-rock category there are albums from Rory Gallagher and Savoy Brown.

Enjoy!
