Howlin' Wolf

Album of the Week 4-27-24

Afternoon folks!

Some more great stuff this week! In the blues department, there's an album split between Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf featuring tunes from their London Sessions (with Brit blues-rock musicians backing them) and an album from Piano Red (the original Dr. Feelgood?) from Atlanta. After that there's a live double album of zydeco/cajun/blues from Clifton Chenier. In the blues-rock department we've got an album this week from Jeremy Spencer after he left (early) Fleetwood Mac and joined a religious cult, kind of an odd album with some good tunes. After that, there's a live album from country-rockers Poco and we finish off in the diversity department with Tom Waits and his Swordfishtrombones album.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the tunes!

Album of the Week 9-23-23

Afternoon folks!

There's a bunch of good stuff this week. There's some serious Chicago blues with an album from (Chess artist) Jimmy Rogers and a compilation from Howlin' Wolf. After that there's a pile of blues rock with albums from Delaney & Bonnie & Friends, Harvey Mandel (Canned Heat) and West, Bruce & Laing.

Then there's some pleasant, bluesy burblings by Leon Redbone and we finish off with some genuinely unusual music from The Fugs.

Have a great weekend!

Album of the Week - 5-28-22

Afternoon folks!

I've got a couple of great blues albums by Howlin' Wolf and Memphis Slim with Matt "Guitar" Murphy and a bunch of blues-rock. There's The Animals, Savoy Brown, Ten Years After and George Thorogood. There's also most of a bluegrass album by The Dillards. I'll add the last couple of tunes to the Dillards album sometime Sunday.

Enjoy!

Album of the Week - 4-2-22

Afternoon folks!

This week, I uploaded a bunch of albums. There's a couple of obviously 70's era albums - one by Jimmy Witherspoon and a really odd Howlin' Wolf album where if you listen carefully you can hear the producer thinking aloud, "let's make him sound like one of those British rockers and cash in!"

There's a playlist of stuff from a rockabilly compilation that includes tunes by Link Wray, Carl Perkins and Sleepy LaBeef.

Also, albums from the Legendary Blues Band, Roomful of Blues, Earl Hooker and Doc & Merle Watson.

Enjoy!
