Refugees from TOP/GOS/LOF: help fund a delegate!

Kossacks of old, please help get Egberto Willies to the convention!

Here's his go fund me: https://www.gofundme.com/2abw4v38

For those new to his work, he is a prolific writer on the old place (TOP) that many of us left, scattering to here, to reddit, to the progressive wing, and beyond: http://www.dailykos.com/user/Egberto%20Willies

In anticipation of the Republican National Convention on Monday, Cleveland unveiled a nearby billboard showing Donald Trump and Ted Cruz in a passionate embrace.

It's going to be an interesting convention.

GOP delegates will vote on proposed platform amendments on Monday and Tuesday, including a reversal of the Supreme Court’s 2015 legalization of gay marriage, and could include references to endorsing conversion therapy.

...whether or not donations made to Sanders could be used to get all these delegates to Philadelphia? with so many needing funds i wonder why the Sanders campaign isn't stepping in. maybe campaign contributions can't be used in this manner? still, maybe the campaign could form a pool for resources so it all goes into one pot. as it is it's hard to determine where to send your money with all the GoFund me pages. goals range from $2,000 - $5,000 for CA delegates. that's a pretty big difference so how many are being honest about their needs. just knowing the costs involved to be a delegate is the main reason i didn't apply to become one. i knew i couldn't afford it.

i'm pretty well tapped out given all my contributions to Sanders. luckily, the Sanders delegates for my district have been funded.

with that. I think all campaign funds can only be used for campaigns. I think if you go to his website or maybe his FaceBook page, you will find what you need.

Although I don't see the point of Bernie delegates wasting their time and money going to the convention. There is nothing fair about the convention or meaningful now, but that's their choice, of course.

to go the convention because Bernie is going to try to amend the Democratic Party by-laws to open the primaries and abolish super-delegates.

"because Bernie is going to try to amend the Democratic Party by-laws to open the primaries and abolish super-delegates." Oops! Go Bernie

Ds are only interested in establishment votes it seems. Plus why should a millionaire pay for a worker to represent? That would be a little too much unity for the man I think.

6 thousand a vote is a lot of money for something that will never pass.

because then that means we got nothing meaningful from the Democratic Party as a result of the primaries. We all know that the Democratic Platform is more symbolic than an actually enforceable document. We got the worst possible candidate as the nominee. So what exactly has Bernie's endorsement and support of Hillary has won for the progressives that can be considered to be enduring change and reform? The least that the Democratic Party can do for us is to make the future nomination process be more open and democratic.

And it would be even sadder if The People missed their opportunity to try in every way they can for some semblance (edit: of) democracy, because the 'No, we can't!' propaganda won.

Democracy must be fought for, in small and large ways - in any and every way - especially when under an oligarchy headed for 'legal' corporate control of domestic law, and a last chance to escape this appears. Any cracks in The Wall can be widened by the pressure of The People forcing through it.

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

a minority report and then recently said he would not offer a minority report, the tires got quite a bit deflated.

Have not seen Meteor Blades or Tom P around here either in a long time...

derp. tried replying to you, but it ended up a reply to the post itself. I don't think Egberto has posted here -- if he's a delegate and a front pager at TOP, he's likely got his hands full. Definitely in the battles on his Bernie posts!

  • MB has posted her once or twice. Been a long time now.
  • EW has never posted here.
  • Tom posted here, got pissed off at us, walked off, and never came back.

On FB, I saw someone who is a delegate and can afford to pay his own way promoting his go fund me account. While I understand it is more of a 'civic expense' and not so much a 'personal' one, I think people who need the money should go first. $5K isn't all that much for "some" people. If EW working for Kos for free?

I'd rather donate to this site for something important.

Surprised when I saw it - don't go to GOS. Checked in to see if BNR was still there, and a diary up PRAISING Tomp and Igulaud (sp?) somebody - for so "gracefully" supporting Shrillary and "unity." Sad

Didn't want to barf on my computer keys, so haven't gone back

but he was over at TPW a few days ago posting quite a few comments calling people jerks and assholes. I thin it was the first time I'd ever seen anyone do that there but he wasn't happy people were promoting Jill Stein and slamming Hillary. I think he's spent to much time at LOF. If you live in an echo chamber, you start to lose track of any other opinions. As far as I care, Tomp is a lost cause. Hope he stays away from here and TPW.

While he was calling people assholes at TPW he was whining that he hoped TPW didn't turn into another DKos. I suggested to him that if he really felt that way he might consider looking in the mirror.

I don' t think he has -- he's got quite a battle on his hands on TOP, dealing with comments on his Bernie diaries.
