Skepticism understandable

Yesterday Secretary of Veterans Affairs David Shulkin was out and about and was asked about Trump's transgender tweet (can't call it a ban in its present state). He claimed that the VA has compassion for transgender veterans.

If anyone -- transgender people included -- serves in the military, they will get medical and other care for life.

On Monday Tee Tee Dangerfield, a 32-year-old Atlanta resident became the sixteenth transgender person known to be murdered this year. Dangerfield was found in her car near an apartment complex in College Park suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital but did not survive.

Dr. Christine McGinn was senior flight surgeon at the Willow Grove Naval Air Station, north of Philadelphia. Once upon a time she was flight surgeon for two NASA space shuttle missions.

She was interviewed by Michael Smerconish on CNN.

McGinn transitioned beginning in 2000. She now operates the Papillon Center in New Hope, PA, which offers comprehensive gender reassignment services.
