Open Thread - 11-03-23 - Humanity is at Stake

The following video was produced back in 2016 by c99 member, Ranting Rooster.

Its focus is climate change as evidenced by its title, Humanity is at Stake.

(3:27)

Much has happened since that production was made in 2016. The climate change crisis as presented in the video has multiplied into a global policrisis (PDF), which affects all of humanity in the macro sense and each of us individually in the micro. One would be hard struck to not notice that things are greatly amiss in our world in which we all live. It hangs over us all much like static electricity before a lightning strike.

We are now met with multiple crises, global food shortages, global pandemic, economic collapse (potentially global), international and global migrations, and war (potentially global as well). Cheap energy actualized by fossil fuels, is now being replaced with expensive energy due to peak oil. With perhaps the exception of economic collapse which is most likely a combination of expensive energy and human greed. Global pandemic which could possibly be attributed to climate change as viruses may be released that are long past locked up in frozen tundra, or possibly spread from animal to human, or long locked up in the minds of psychopaths who may act to release a deadly virus.

An argument can be made that all of these crises are man-made. And it appears that so far the political solution to these problems are authoritarian and totalitarian in composition, in the West anyways. Censorship, divide and conquer tactics, racism, greed, and especially war are the solutions being offered up by so called leaders. This all makes a mockery of the idea that humans are civilized as we prove that we are not that far removed from animal behavior, although technically we are indeed just that, animals. I sometimes wonder if these malignancies are not encoded into our genes.

It appears more and more, everyday, that war (the ultimate divide and conquer tactic) is the intended solution. Which amounts to the same old solution proffered by "civilization" from time immemorial.

Sides are being drawn, die are being cast, lines are being scratched in the sand, you're either with us or against us. Peace is but a flickering light in a whirlwind of hate. Hate that is generated and promoted from within us all and without us all, through various vessels but mostly from our so called leaders.

I personally, drew my side decades ago, back during the cauldron of the Vietnam War. I stand with the innocent victims of war, on all sides. Those, who through no fault of their own found themselves in the way of man's inhumanity towards man. Right and wrong is always blurred in the middle of the madness of war, a bloody dichotomy that drips from the minds of psychopaths.

There is no flag large enough to cover the shame of killing innocent people.
~Howard Zinn

A Clash of Peoples

It's not looking too good right now, but I always hold out hope.

Will Mankind Destroy Itself?

Theoretical physicist Michio Kaku sees two major trends today. One eventually leads to a multicultural, scientific, tolerant society that will expand beyond Earth in the name of human progress. The other trend leads to fundamentalism, monoculturalism, and — eventually — civilizational ruin. Whichever of these two trends wins out will determine the fate of mankind. No pressure, everyone.

A Clash of Planets

Oh, come on, man. Everyone knows there's only giant subterranean lizards down there.

Chunks of an alien world could be hidden deep within our planet, say scientists

  • Scientists think a planet may have crashed into Earth 4.5 billion years ago, creating the moon.
  • This alien planet, Theia, was thought to have completely disappeared in the collision.
  • A new study suggests parts of Theia still exist in our planet, around Earth's core.

Continent-sized chunks of an alien world may be hiding deep within our planet — and it could explain the weird structures that appear to be surrounding Earth's core.

Scientists have long hypothesized that a Mars-sized planet called Theia crashed into Earth 4.5 billion years ago, leading to the creation of the moon.

But this theory has been difficult to prove, in part because Theia was long thought to have disappeared during the collision.

Now a supercomputer simulation provides evidence that chunks of Theia may still survive in the boundary between our planet's mantle and the core.

As well as shedding new light on the inner workings of our planet, scientists hope they will one day have access to these slabs of alien rock to reveal, once and for all, how our moon formed.

I'm happy to pass along that Ranting Rooster is alive and well and living in west central Texas as a professional video producer.

Here's another of RR's video productions:

(1:10)

From the video's description:

"In addressing the American Newspaper Publishers Association in 1961, John F. Kennedy spoke of “a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy” that seeks to rule the world and whose “dissenters are silenced.” "
This is a little excerpt clip from a much longer video by StormCloudsGathering, Rule from the Shadows - The Psychology of Power.

Have a good one folks, and oh yeah, this is an open thread.

Remember giving RR funds to enact his move to a kibbutz of sorts many moons ago.
Glad to hear he is still productive.

Just finished listening to a speech by Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Lebanon,
in which he laid out the Hezzbola reaction to the slaughter in Gaza. This will not
be pretty for the Zion regime. US is responsible for the widening tensions in the
ME. The more the IDF expands their "holy real estate war", the greater will be the
counter offensive of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Cessation of aggression is the only option left to the west. Will congress do the right
thing and defund warring regimes? Primarily Ukraine and Israel. Or risk losing the
entire empire? Perhaps some semblance of sanity may prevail.

Thanks for the OT!

speak on the phone with RR/Clinton and we have visited with him a couple of times in his new digs. He loves it there.

Many breaths were held in anticipation of Nasrallah's speech hoping that Hezbollah would not declare war on Israel. It appears that he stopped short of that but he did make some substantial threats.

I long lost hope that Congress will do the right thing but I'd love to be proven wrong on that point.

Multipolar, unipolar, this religion vs. that religion, and who will wind up with all the oil and gas?
And will that oil and gas be used for anything besides the military?
And could anybody tell me why Bill Gates is in possession of farm land?
I will wait until I close the office today to give further listen/watch to some of these videos. For now, I can't figure out how to help us all, but I can get one child away from one parent before said parent beats her to death.
It gets harder to forgive these days.
Forgive me, please...the Palestinians should not be beaten to death. I wish I could snatch them away, make them safe.
All that said, we are here, alive, thinking, trying to make a better world. Don't ever give up.
Never give in.

There seems to be many agendas at hand so asking what the plan is depends on who you ask. I would venture that the plan has little to do with the welfare, wants and needs of the hoi polloi.

You're a good egg for doing what you can in your own sphere of influence. You should be a role model for our so called leaders. They are supposed to be working for us and not themselves. It appears that public service is all about fattening their own wallets and the people be damned.

Do not comply.

@Sima took the kid from her Dad last evening. He will have to find someone else to beat now. After I filed the emergency order request, and after his attorney discussed it with him, he beat his daughter again, for good measure, I guess. It took 2 weeks for this emergency request to be signed and acted upon by the police.

the re-introduction to RR's art. Gonna have a heat pump installed next tues, and like most recent projects, it's gonna require me to re-route a chunk of my antiquated self designed and built irrigation system. This means, among other things, plenty of digging in our clay "soil", then doing a buncha piping runs and suchwhat. Between doctors, labs, and pharmacy runs, daylight hours are getting scarcer and scarcer, hence I won't view any vids until this evening.

@enhydra lutris
We had a heat pump installed a year or so ago and realized substantial improvement on the monthly bills. They work great in a more temperate region but not so well when it gets below 40 degrees or so, and even less so when it gets down in the low 30s and 20s. So you being in the Bay area the pump should work out well. There are a few tricks and nuances to learn to get them to work at peak efficiency but I'm confident that you'll figure it out.

About that irrigation system, I "dig" what you're saying. Heh!

if Lebanon declares war Iran and probably much of the Arab nations will join in as well. If that happens it does not portend well for Israel for sure, probably the US as well, and quite possibly the whole world.

It's amazing how far and how fast we've fallen in a few short years.

European jews were sent to western Palestine because no one else wanted them.
So the jewish race decided they wanted more. Tried to take Egypt, that failed.
Tried to take Lebanon, that failed. Tried to take Syria, (see Golan) bad blood.
Now 'taking' Palestine by killing them all. At some point, the Arab people will
have had enough of this transplant virus, using their ancient book of rules
to transform a modern day Jerusalum into an ancient fantasy.

Will not work.
