Gang Tactics

This started off as a comment to WindDancer13’s Odds and Ends, but got too long and I really want to see what is next. Not sure this merits a separate essay, but exposure to enhance feedback on the usual next move may be helpful.

It appears that the basic m. o., right and left, is an orchestrated gang assault accusing the opponent of doing exactly what is being done to them. It is very basic, really, and on a sophistication scale is somewhere between kindergarten and 5th grade. Perfected by the Repubs, in this case it goes like this:

1.) The Gang Leader (GL) red baits the target in a national debate.
2.) The MSM plays along.
3.) Gang Member 1, a former Governor and Presidential candidate, accuses the target of advocating "chaos" (read anarchy) in regards to the health care of all Americans.
4.) The MSM plays along.
5.) Gang Member2, a notoriously liberal and well respected former Congresman, author of the post banking rip-off financial reform legislation, accuses the target of being Joe McCarthy. This inoculates the GL from blow back for future red baiting. (After all, it is the TARGET who is a McCarthyite.)
6.) The MSM plays along.
7.) The GL furiously attacks the target as a doctor commie rat in the national debate just before the NY primary.
8.) The MSM refuses to allow any rebuttal from the target.

If this turns out to be mere supposition, then so much the better. We have heard chatter about the kitchen sink and there is no reason whatsoever for $hillary to hold back now: if she loses NY she is toast.

I haven't seen an effective follow up from the Repubs after a gang attack so maybe this is all there is? Can anyone point out what the usual next move that $hillary might make after this tactic? Just more assassination of Bernie's character?

Thank you.

As an aside, Bernie's got this coming as he must know. It might be more effective coming from a "fellow" Democrat than from a frothing-at-the-mouth Repub, but surviving it now may go a long way towards inoculating him during the general election.

"We know how important this election is for Secretary Clinton. She has worked hard for decades to make certain that important ideals of the democratic party are advanced. So it must be a surprise, if not a shock, that she has been losing so many states that are democratic strongholds. Plus, she has been let down recently by her campaign representatives who have diverted attention from the important issues of our time to the trivia of horse race political gibberish. It is an unfortunate fact that their inability to focus on the realities of the day are drastically reducing the likelihood of her nomination. As we move forward through this campaign, I want to honor the good that Secretary Clinton has done. I will continue to honor her through the General Election campaign. And I want to assure her supporters that all of those democratic ideals that Secretary Clinton has fought for will be carried on during my administration."

And just rushed past your quite clear question. As for the good secretary's next move, I believe her henchmen are attacking on a personal level now. We're going to hear with increasing frequency the sordidness of Bernies 74 years of living. Remember all that Obama had to go through? Old sermons by Jeremiah Wright happened to be brought up during the primary. Bad Christian and bad American that Obama was...when he wasn't being all Muslimy.

yuuge resources and not a peep. Wonder if they are all scared of him because he's so clean? Like the herd forcing out an old bull because he never acted like they do...

It IS a beautifully worded response, though. Maybe forward it to Bernie for a press release at the proper moment?

when you entire record is misrepresented and that misrepresentation is codified by the media.

I do expect them at any moment to bring up with writings from the 1970s to brand him with sexist along with a host of other things. Right now, they are probably testing those writings to determine which parts affect which focus groups, so the HRC team will know which direction to attack from or more likely how many directions.

was to NWIA's quote allegedly from Sanders. I cannot find it and would like the original source.

To create links:

1. Go to the page you want to link to and copy the address (right click, copy)
2. Go to where you want to place the link in your comment/essay.
3. Click on the third button above the message box (Insert/edit link)
4. In the window that opens, right click-paste the address that you previously copied in the top box.
5. In the second box, type in the text that you wish to appear in your comment/essay. This will show up in the comment/essay rather than the address.
6. Click Okay. Viola!

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the h/t.

Kept looking at that address wondering how to get rid of it and couldn't quite push "Save"...Thank you so much, WindDancer. It is always good to find out that one can, indeed, learn new tricks.

caused by a lack of clarity in my original post which caused NWIA to respond as if he was Bernie. He read my post as asking what Bernie should do in response. His words are, I believe, an eloquent exercise of poetic license. I have since modified the post for clarity. There is a brief back and forth above. Still trying to get the hang of this...thank you for your patience.

Thank you for your response...it is all I can think of as well. Watch and see...

The NY political machine thinks they will be more powerful than the people. The more the people understand the set up, the more they want to support Bernie. We've got two weeks. NY is a closed primary which means educating registered NY democrats. Do what you can. NY holds many delegates. If we can win by one vote it will be a moral victory.

“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”

Losing NY isn't going to kill the Clinton campaign. In fact she can "lose" all of the remaining contests and be the nominee as long as she keeps them close. A blowout along the lines of 29 March in the NY primary might be an existential event for her campaign but a 55/45 split will let her campaign live on to fight another day. On the other hand, a big Sanders loss could mortally wound his campaign and our hopes.

Clinton has a big lead but the momentum is with Sanders.

I have printed out my voter status as of 3/30/2016. I don't think I live in an area of NY state fully-owned by the Democratic machine (R House district) but I am prepared to vote for Sanders in the primary, just as I voted for Teachout in the gubernatorial primary and then wrote in in the general.

Ithaca is very blue, all signs I have seen are Bernie!
